Privacy policy
Who we are
WaterLove is made by IdeaLove LLC. Questions about this policy: privacy@idealove.app.

What stays on your phone
Your activities, starting point, places, favourites, preferences, notes, starred outings, check-ins and log are stored on your phone. Deleting the app, or Settings > Start over, removes them from the phone.
WaterLove does not ask for an account, your name or your email address.
What you can choose to share
On the “Will you share?” step, and in Settings > Sharing, you can agree to share any of the following. Each is off unless you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time; turning one off applies to what you save from then on.
Tide station corrections: the place name, a position rounded to about 100 metres, and the stations involved.
Notes you record about places, including the names you give places such as boat ramps: the note, the place, and which activities it applies to.
Favorite places: which places you starred.
Your starting point and check-in locations: the starting point you set, and your phone’s location at the moment you check in to an outing. We use these to understand where people go and to improve WaterLove for you.
Shared information is not linked to your name. It is used to improve WaterLove’s data and recommendations and is not sold.
Location
WaterLove uses your phone’s location only when you ask it to: when you tap “Use my location”, and when you check in to an outing. It never tracks your location in the background.
When you use “Use my location”, your starting point is saved as the nearest town, not your exact position.
When you check in, WaterLove records whether you were near the place. Your exact position is saved only if you agreed to share check-in locations.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, WaterLove reminds you about outings you starred, at the times you choose. These reminders are scheduled on your phone.
Services WaterLove uses
Weather and alerts come from the U.S. National Weather Service, tides from NOAA, and marine observations from NDBC. To fetch them, the app sends the positions of the places you are looking at, not your own location.
Maps are drawn with OpenStreetMap tiles. “See this spot on Google Maps” opens Google Maps, whose own privacy policy applies.
When WaterLove’s own server is in use, it caches forecasts and receives only what you agreed to share, plus an anonymous device identifier used to apply the free-tier activity limit.
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play and RevenueCat, whose own privacy policies apply.
Children
WaterLove is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and requests
You can turn any sharing option off in Settings > Sharing, and remove everything on your phone with Settings > Start over.
Deleting a place or a note on your phone removes it from your phone, together with the notes about that place. It does not remove anything you already shared: we keep that record, marked as deleted by you.

Changes
If this policy changes, the app will show the new version and its date before any new kind of information is shared.
